Guillaume BUDÉ (Budaeus), (1467-1540, a distinguished French polymath and humanist jurist, secretary to King Louis XII of France, and later royal librarian and founder of the College de France. He was one of the group which developed a more rational and scientific method for the study and understanding of Roman law. His main legal work, the Annotationes in XXIV libros Pandectarum (1508) had great influence on the study of Roman law, but he also contributed greatly to the study of Greek literature in France.
