Die Definition von Foote zum Internationalen Privatrecht übernimmt Hibbert: “The body of principles determining which of two or more systems of law shall prevail when they compete in any particular case”. Phillimore, Dicey und der deutsche Jurist von Bar nahmen Einfluß auf sein Werk. Aus der älteren Literatur zitiert Hibbert Ulrich Huber. The large number of decisions since the publication of Foote’s great monograph and the two important acts: Bankruptcy Act 1914 and the British Nationality and Status of Aliens Act 1914 provided the motive for publishing his work. Hibbert adopted Foote’s definition of international private law: “The body of principles determining which of two or more systems of law shall prevail when they compete in any particular case”.
