One of Baldus’ most famous students at the University of Perugia was Petrus de Ancherano. He continued his legal studies in Bologna, where he also gained his doctorate. He always kept his teacher Baldus in awed memory, often referring to him his writings as “praeceptor meus”. His university career also started in Bologna, where from 1384 he lectured on the Liber Sextus. After a stay in Venice, where he served as consultor to the Republic, he moved to Siena for three years (1387-1390), where he held a chair in the Decretals. From 1402 he taught in Ferrara, returning three years later to Bologna before accepting a call to Lucca in 1408, and thereafter ending his teaching career in Bologna. One of Petrus de Ancheranus’ students was Antonius de Butrio.
