Alphonse Bard, der berühmt wurde durch seine Teilnahme am Wiederaufnahmeverfahrens des Prozesses von Dreyfuss, der dann zu dessen Rehabilitierung führte, studierte Rechtswissenschaft und wurde 1874 zum Doktor der Rechte promoviert. Zu Beginn des Jahres 1872 war er in Paris Mitglied des Appellationsgerichts. Später wurde er Richter am Court of Cassation. Zu Beginn seiner juristischen Laufbahn wandte er sich dem Internationalen Privatrecht zu und schilderte die Entwicklung aus der Sicht eines Richters an einem hohen französischen Berufungsgericht. Alphonse Bard was born in Paris. He was the passionate rapparteur for the initial quashing of the judgment against Dreyfus, and president of the chamber during the second trial taht ended in Dreyfus`s rehabilitation. Since this time, Bard war one of the most important jurists in France. Bard was made a doctor of law in 1874. Beginning in 1872 he was a lawyer at the Court of Appeals in Paris. Later, he began his career as judge as a deputy public prosecutor of the Republic in Marseille, and then in Paris in 1879.
